Does my dog have melanoma?

I just noticed a black circle on my dog's lower eyelid. I noticed only the edge of it and found that it was a full black circle about the diameter of a pencil eraser when I pulled down his eyelid. I've heard that dogs get moles around their eyelids, but also that's where melanoma most commonly occurs. This is practically under his eyelid. Should I be worried?
