Scared of melanoma! (serious question)?

My 9.5 weeks old Scottish Terrier was playing with his chew toy & suddenly jumped up grabbed my ear lobe and tugged on it, ripping it. I had always heard the same thing that contractions were just like bad period cramps. With my labor all I can say is BS. My contractions hurt a lot worse than anything I had ever experienced before. The good news though as while waiting for an epidural they can give you pain meds thru your IV. At my hospital they wanted me to have to fluid bags before they'd give me an epidural. The pain meds were the only thing that helped. I could still feel the contractions they just made me not care.

32cc Craftsman Weedwacker wont start?

About atypical moles and melanoma?

I'm 20 years old and I recently spotted a strange looking mole on my arm. It was concerning, so I went to the derm and had an excisional biopsy. I just got back the results and she said it was benign (thank god) but also atypical, which means I have a higher risk of skin cancer. My question is, how high a risk? Is it still fairly unlikely as long as I take care of myself (sunscreen, good diet, etc) or is it something I should plan on in the future?

Housebreaking puppy please help?

My 9 wk. old Scottish Terrier puppy refuses to go to the bathroom outside. I have him on a strict feeding schedule per vets advice. About 20 minutes after eating he starts sniffing & circling the floor but when I take him out he wont go. I bring him back in wait until he shows signs again then take him back out, still refuses to go outside. I have cleaned the "accident areas" in the house with Natures Miracle so there is no scent to draw him. When he's outside all he wants to do is chew on everything in site instead of do his business. I have tried using a squirt bottle & pennies in a can to deter this behavior to no avail. Also, even though I get up at least 2-3 times during the night to take him out he will pee in his cage. His cage is dry when I take him out, he refuses to go, I take him back in wait 15-30 minutes and he has peed in his cage. I thought dogs didn't like to go in their "den". I have a divider in the cage to make it as small an area as possible so he wont soil his sleeping area. Any adice? I don't know what I am doing wrong. I am at my wits end. I worked at a dermatologist for 5 years, and dealt with a lot of people who had skin cancer and biopsy's of mole done. I myself had melanoma when I was 25 so I am pretty familiar with it all. First off you will continue to get new and changing moles until you are around 35 years old, so don't be surprised if something new pops up. Freckles will be flat and moles will be raised. Do not be concerned unless you have a freckle or mole that is raised and itchy, changes color, has irregular borders (you should be able to draw a line down the center or horizontal and both sides match) or is larger then the tip of an eraser on a pencil. It is not typical for someone your age to develop skin cancer, but it does happen. Unless you have any of these symptoms I wouldn't worry. If you do have symptoms then just ask for a biopsy at your next visit. They will give you a local numbing medication and shave a piece off to send to a pathologist, usually takes 3 -5 days for results. Hope this helps.

I had a mole, on the right upper side of my face. It was kinda triangle shaped, almost like a heart, and it was brown. It was raised a little bit and the skin around it was raised. So my aunt and uncle have had a horrible year so far. They have 2 kids. One (girl) is 15, and the boy is 18. Well my cousin, the girl, was diagnosed with melanoma. That shook up the entire family. i got a pretty severe sunburn last Wednesday and it looks as if it's about to peel, but just last night i noticed 3 small spots on my back, two on the right side and one slightly more noticable one on the left. Anything cancer related always says its best to catch it fast and I'm worried it is melanoma. Will waiting another two weeks be really bad? fyi there is a history of skin cancer in my family, I'm 21, i hardly ever go out in the sun but I have had maybe 3 serious sunburns in my life.

I think I might have melanoma, help please?

I recently went to the doctors about itchy spots that appeared on my legs, arms, head and also about itchy flakey skin in my ear as if it was dry skin, but the spots would start off small with dry skin over the top but because it was itchy i scratched it without thinking and they have gotten bigger and red all round them and sometimes bleed but I seen a video about melanoma, and decided very stupidly to research it and from what i've seen it looks like, it looks similar to what mine is from a few pictures but can't get this out of my mind, the doctor did say it was a type of eczema and gave me a cream for it and it has helped my ears but i haven't really noticed any difference in the spots, I also never use sunbeds or go out sun bathing..

Collection agency trying to collection money that I do not own from Rental Apartment. Legal help needed.?

I lived in an apartment about 23 month in CA, just shy of 2 years. According to the property owner, they send a invoice for cleaning and ect... It was never actually delivered, but "return to sender". 3 month after I moved out, I received a collection agency letter. The collection agency said that I own them 390 buck with 13 in interest and .1 USD/day. I asked for the itemized inovice, they send all the individual invoice with that "return to sender" letter without address shown. According to the contract that all charges should be pro-rated to 36 months, but collection agency does not seem to understand it and refuse to adjust the charges and keep sending the same inovice for cleaning, carpet changing..... I am happy to pay them for the money that I actually own, but collection agency do not want to make any adjustment. Should I just file a lawsuit against them and stop this non sens? Please help.

My dad survived cancer, what do i get him for Fathers day?

So my Dad gets colon cancer last year. Through surgery and quick thinking from his doctors its caught quickly and removed. No chemo or radiation needed. He's recovered physically from the surgeries, but mentally, maybe not so much. He was always a 'can do' kinda guy and since the mammoth surgeries last year, he needs to take things a bit slower. So on the road to recovery, last month he was complaining of a cold sore on his lip that wouldn't heal. He went to his dermatologist, turns out to be a mild form of Melanoma. Its removed and all is good. I guess I'm just so grateful to still have him in my life that I'm so totally underwhelmed as to what to get as a Fathers Day gift. Can it be melanoma-mole changed after giving birth?

i don't know my vitamin d levels, i just know that it's very low so im taking vitamin d supplements for that. I try to take them everyday but sometimes i forget to because on the bottle it says to take them while i eat so there isnt a specific time i take them. & i have vitiligo, so that could be why i have vitamin d low levels and in my case i have it in one private area so i'm not really affected by the sun like another person with vitiligo could be affected with it. I'm not so sure what foods for you to eat though just look on your food labels of your food at home and it should tell you how much of a percentage of vitamin d is in there if there is any, like in the cinnamon toast crunch i eat there is 25% vitamin D in there...Hope i've helped some:)

I did indoor tanning for two years on and off, from about beginning of '07 to the middle of '09. Some weeks I would go very frequently (like 3x). I know it was bad for me, but I liked getting color. What could be causing my chronic nosebleeds and what should I do about it?

Okay, so I have chronic nosebleeds. They happen once or twice a day and they last a good 10 to 20 minutes. I went to an ENT before and they cauterized my nose. They said the cause was that I had extra blood vessels and that I should have been having a nosebleed every time my pulse went up my entire life. Apparently extra blood vessels in your nose is a birth defect. But, anyway, I got it cauterized, but a year later, my nosebleeds started happening again and they've been just as bad as before. I've been dealing with it for a long time since then now. So, I'm starting to wonder if the ENT was wrong. Could they be caused by something else? I'm pretty sure it's not dryness or temperature changes, and the nosebleeds starting happening around the same time I developed Melanoma. Could it have anything to with that? I didn't have them my whole life like the doctors said I should have. So, I'm just wondering if anyone knows anything about this type of thing.

Health Insurance Dilemma?

I have an appointment in two weeks to determine the possibility of melanoma and do not yet have health insurance. I had planned to have long-term health insurance in place a month ago, but it has not yet been processed. I want to keep my appointment and just pay for that out of pocket, but am concerned that if I do receive a diagnosis, I will not be able to get insurance after the fact. If I wait for my insurance to come through and wait until August for the next available appointment, can they drop my coverage anyway for only having it for 1-2 months prior to diagnosis? Also, I had a documented incident of Tachycardia two years ago that I was forced to go to the ER for and have been told that would likely rule me out for any short-term coverage options, despite the fact that it does not affect me daily and I do not take medication for it. Oh and I'm early 20s, if that matters. Thanks for any and all help--this insurance situation is stressing me more than the actual appointment!

If he will let you, consider going with him to the visit so you can ask questions about the cancer and risk of future cancer to both you and him. Melanoma has the most potential of the common skin cancers, but it is related to thickness of the cancer. So early (lowest level) has a very good chance of being gone. His risk of another one only ever goes up with time and age, as does yours and mine. That's why the check ups are so important as is protecting from the biggest risk factor, UVA light exposure. Find out what Clark level and Breslow thickness and then educate yourself about that level of melanoma since the prognosis is very different for the different thicknesses.

I recently noticed a mole on my fathers shoulder. I asked him how far back he got it, and he said a little over a year ago. I immediately thought of melanoma. I looked up the symptoms online, but I am uncertain. He has a doctor’s visit soon, but I want to know if it might be malignant. It is bigger than 6mm but it is perfectly round. I have had a red lump on my left butt cheek for quite some time now, it has over the past 3 months grown bigger and more painful and today, I touched it and it began to pop.
