My friend just told me she has melanoma. How can I help?

She has only told her husband and her two children and now me. She is always the "rock" for everyone else and I would like to provide support for her. I am accompanying her to her first appointment with the doctor. What things can I do to support her and perhaps provide comfort during her treatment. She is private and very brave.
